Studio policies
Below is a brief overview of important studio policies. Please refer to the full Studio Agreement for complete details.
Tuition & Billing
Lessons are billed monthly and payment is kindly requested within seven (7) days of the invoice date. Late payments will incur a late fee. An annual registration fee helps support student materials such as method books and sheet music.
Scheduling & Attendance
Lessons take place on a consistent weekly schedule arranged between the studio and the family. To help maintain consistency for all students, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling requests. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged in full.
Ongoing Enrollment
Enrollment at Luneflower Music Studio is ongoing and reserves a consistent place in the studio for each student. If your family wishes to discontinue lessons, written notice is requested by the 20th of the month for withdrawal to take effect at the end of that month.
Family Partnership
We believe musical growth is a collaborative process between teacher, student, and family. Families play an important role in supporting practice routines, maintaining open communication, and encouraging steady progress at home. Our hope is to create a space where students feel safe to grow, explore, and express themselves through music.

Get the most out of your lessons
To help students have a positive and productive experience, we recommend:
♪
Being ready at the lesson start time with assigned materials and a focused mindset.
♪
Maintaining a consistent weekly practice routine. Small, consistent practice sessions are more effective than infrequent, long sessions.
♪
Creating a calm and distraction-free practice environment at home to support daily musical exploration.
♪
Encouraging effort and curiosity rather than perfection, which allows musical growth to happen in the small, daily moments.

-
Sheet music and practice materials will gradually be added to the Online Resources section as students progress through their lessons. It is completely normal for this folder to be empty at the beginning.
3. Prepare your instrument at home
Students are encouraged to practice consistently between lessons using a reliable instrument at home. A quality instrument helps students develop proper technique, listening skills, and confidence.
Â
Beginner recommendations
For students just beginning lessons, we generally recommend:
-
an acoustic upright or grand piano (preferred), or an 88-key digital piano with weighted keys
-
a sturdy, adjustable stand (for portable digital pianos)
-
a sustain pedal
-
an adjustable piano bench
Â
Regarding acoustic pianos:
Acoustic pianos offer the richest experience for developing technique, tone, and musical expression at the piano. While they can be a larger investment, renting or purchasing a quality used piano are both wonderful options for many families. Many piano stores also offer monthly financing, seasonal promotions, and trade-up programs that make upgrading over time more manageable.
Â
As students continue to grow, families are always welcome to reach out for personalized guidance, including local rental and purchasing recommendations. If you are unsure whether your current instrument is appropriate for lessons, feel free to ask before purchasing anything new.

Digital pianos:
For families choosing a digital instrument, we recommend an 88-key digital piano with full-size, touch-sensitive, weighted/hammer-action keys. A few reliable, beginner-friendly options include the Roland FP-10, Yamaha P-145/P-145BT, and Kawai ES60. For families looking for a more premium digital piano, the Yamaha P-225 is another excellent option.

Please feel free to send us a link before purchasing an instrument—we’re always happy to confirm that a particular model will be a good fit.
Â
Helpful accessories:
-
metronome (many free apps are available)
-
headphones (for digital pianos when needed)
Communication
We value warm, respectful, and open communication with families. Questions are always welcome, and we are happy to support students throughout their musical journey.
